Compare average hotel prices for 3-star vs 4-star accommodations in each city over time. See how the price gap between rating tiers evolves and find the best value for your stay.
Two lines show the average daily hotel price for the selected city — one for 3-star properties and one for 4-star. Hover any point on the chart to see the exact date and both prices at that check-in day.
The distance between the two lines is the price gap: how much extra, on average, a 4-star stay costs versus a 3-star one. The hero strip above shows the gap averaged across the whole visible date range.
Each line is an average across ~60 hotels of that rating, for 2 adults, 1 night, with breakfast included and a minimum review score of 7. Prices are in USD and booked the selected number of days in advance. Extreme-priced outliers are excluded before averaging, so a single unusual listing can’t distort a line.
On near-sold-out dates (e.g. a festival or conference), only a handful of expensive rooms remain, so that day’s figure is an unrepresentative surge price. These low-availability points are still plotted, but excluded from the average stats above — hover one to see why.
Pick a different City in the filter to switch the view. Change the Advance period to see whether the gap widens or shrinks depending on how early you book. Continent narrows the city list.
Cities where the two lines stay close together offer good value at the 4-star tier — you're paying little extra for the upgrade. Cities where the lines diverge mean 3-star is the stronger pick unless the extra amenities matter.
Watch for weekly patterns: weekends typically push both lines up in parallel, but some cities show the gap widening on certain days.
